How to remove a watermark from a simple background
Watermarks are a logo, piece of text, signature, or other identifying graphic overlayed on top of a photograph. They are usually semi-transparent, so that the image can still be admired, but they can also be an ugly stain for us when we need to use a crisp and clean picture in our work.
There are a couple of different ways to remove these using tools like Photoshop, but the methods to achieve a good can get quite technical if you haven't done it before.
Fortunately there's a super simple tool we can use in our internet browser, the Content-Aware Move Tool in Photopea.
By simply making a selection around our watermark, we can use the Content-Aware Move Tool to drag the selection off our canvas, and Photopea will generate bunch of new pixels for us.
Content-aware fill seamlessly fills a selected portion of an image with similar image content from surrounding parts of the photo.
This is a handy feature that I first used in Photoshop, but we're now at a point where free tools like Photopea offer it, too. Definitely one to keep in your arsenal of communications tools.
No organisation wants a big ugly watermark on their image!
